Pledge of Allegiance Coin Collection

The Pledge of Allegiance first appeared in 1892 in the magazine 'Youth's Companion ' and the 1892 Indian Head Penny symbolizes its humble beginnings. In 1954 Congress added 'under God' to the wording and the 1954 Franklin Silver half Dollar symbolizes the important change. Of special note the Franklin Silver Half Dollar also features the prominent phrase 'In God We Trust' under Benjamin Franklin's portrait.
